Arbor Vetum was founded on the philosophy and practice of helping to preserve natural forests, protecting the environment and producing only environmentally responsible furniture. They were the first company in the world to be awarded the FSC Recycled label for wooden products and the first in Europe to receive Rediscovered Wood Certification by SmartWood. Customers who seek the best furniture for outdoor use want teak, but such high quality FSC garden furniture is still something of a rarity.
All Arbor Vetum’s furniture is genuinely made by hand from the finest quality materials using traditional carpentry techniques such as mortise and tenon joints and teak dowels. If a screw is used in the construction then it will be countersunk and a teak pellet (or cap) fitted into the recess and hand sanded to ensure a beautiful and clean fit.
Arbor Vetum use only carefully graded and selected reclaimed teak timbers, salvaged primarily from early 20th Century structures. This reclaimed teak comes in all manner of shapes and surprises, from tiny fittings to massive ancient timbers. Carefully recovered by hand, each and every piece of this wonderful wood has a special history and story to tell.
