Local beekeeper and candle maker

John Parslow

Ever since John was a boy he has been fascinated by beekeeping.  As a ten year old he would gaze longingly at his neighrbour’s hives, counting the days until he was old enough to own his own colony.

40 years on, John and his wife Joan have taken a back seat, focusing their efforts on farmers markets, while their youngest son Barry collects the honey and drives the business forward.

The Parslows now have over 330 hives scattered over the counties of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.   Local farmers welcome the bees onto their land as they help pollinate the crops, but the increasingly virilent parasites and viruses, compounded by recent wet summers, makes maintaing healthy colonies a huge challenge.
