Great garden accessory for slicing through new growth, soft foliage or wet material which defeats lesser tools. It’s no good expecting ordinary secateurs to do it – they were designed specifically to cut through woody material and will just chew up anything soft, leaving ragged, unsightly and unhealthy edges.
These shears, with their razor sharp blades will slice through soft stuff like butter and what’s more, they’ll keep doing it long after other similar tools have blunted.
The harder the steel the longer it keeps it's edge (much the same as an 'H' pencil keeps it's point longer than a 'B'). The key to hardness is a high carbon content and precisely controlled heat treatment where the steel is heated to an exact temperature for a specific time, giving it a hardness of 54-56 Rockwell. This makes it more expensive than, for example mild steel, but the quality of the blades is far superior.
