Knowing how to store fruit and vegetables is an important skill that we should all seek to acquire. Anyone who has a plum tree or grows runner beans will know what I mean. Once they are ready for picking, they come faster than you can possibly consume them!
These crates are ideal for apples and pears. Store only perfect specimens (what they say about one bad apple is true), wrap them in paper and place gently in the crate. Store somewhere that is cool and frost free. If you need more advice, Piers Warren's book How to Store Your Garden Produce is well worth a look.
