These fire bowls have long been used for cooking in northern India and Pakistan, much like a wok in south east asia, but in India these tend to be used for deep frying or stewing rather than stir fries. The smaller version is used to cook the popular balti curry.
The stand should be placed on a firm, flat surface and care should be taken when the fire is lit.
The fire bowls and stands are made from recycled iron so they will rust, which some people find attractive. If you would rather your fire bowl remained rust free them keep it dry and remove any rust with wire wool. A light coating of oil will also help prevent rust.
