This play house can also be called a Wendy House after JM Barrie's Peter Pan. In the story Peter Pan builds a house out of sticks to cover Wendy while she is sleeping in Neverland. Ever since, small sheds, outhouses and hiding places where children play have been called Wendy Houses. Ideally a Wendy House should be large enough for small children to play, but not so large to allow adults access. Its this children-only independence that makes a wendy house special.
