Marianne Westman is a well known Swedish designer whose work gained notoriety in the 50s and 60s.
Her picknick design was first commissioned in 1956 by the famous china company Rörstrand and original pieces have now become highly collectable.
Marianne Westman, now in her 80s, has always created decorative designs and products inspired by her immediate surroundings. The decorative designs and products she created were inspired by what she found appealing, needed in her own kitchen, or felt would be useful to someone in her own family.
The picknick design features a spread of typical Scandinavian foodstuffs, from onions and dill to herrings and artichokes.
