Here are some tips on how to get the most out of your Christmas Dinner Veg seeds:
- The sprouts and cabbage are best sown into a seed bed in early summer. The seed bed should be weed free and raked to a fine tilth. Water the soil, use a dribber or rake to make shallow drills and then firm the soil. Cover with chicken wire or a cloche. When the seedlings have four leaves in late summer, transplant to their final position, cover again with wire and firm the soil well. Brassicas like firm soil, so feel free to walk around the plants.
- The carrots and parsnips should be sown into their final position in May. Sow thinly into a drill and once the seeds germinate thin to their final spacing.
- All seeds need water to germinate, so if there is no rain, water every other day.
