If you're looking for an original platter for serving cheese, antipasti or tapas, then one of these vintage teak chapatti boards could be for you. They have small carved feet and a beautiful aged patina, which makes them great for displaying food. Each one is slightly different, so a few together makes for an attractive display.

They can also be used for making chapattis of course, which is their original purpose. Place the ball of chapatti dough in the centre of the board and roll it with a rolling pin until it gets to the edges. The board will ensure each one is round, or nearly round, and a similar size. If you use wholemeal flour to make your dough its a chapati. If you use plain flour its a roti.

In different regions of south-east Asia chapathi boards vary in size. Our chapatti boards come in two size ranges:
    Small 22 - 25cm, £23
    Large 28 - 36cm, £28

Chapattis are Indian flat breads. They are unleavened and made from wholemeal flour and water. Sometimes a little salt or oil is added.

Even with flour and water as the sole ingredients they can be amazingly delicious, which in part comes from the way they are cooked on a dry frying pan or griddle. Across much of south east Asia they are a staple food that is used to scoop up rice and sauce.

A chapatti board is not essential to make chapattis. Some people make them on a work surface or round stone, but we think they are wonderful both as chapatti boards and as display platters.
