Description
If you have a friend or member of your family who likes wild camping or bushcraft then this could be the perfect present. It includes everything you need to light a fire without matches.
Before matches were invented in the early 1800s all fires were started with a spark, typically from a flint and steel. This is a tricky process unless you have the right tools and tinder, which is why this kit is so welcome for fans of wild camping. It makes lighting fires the natural way a doddle but still gives you the full bushcraft experience.
The kit comes in a neat box and includes:
- Amadou tinder, which is made from the horse’s hoof fungus, ‘Fomes formentarius’, and is the best tinder you can buy as it creates a hot ember from the smallest of sparks
- Swedish pine fatwood, which is a high resin tree stump, much like ocote.
- Bundle of dried grass
- Traditional fire striker steel
- Flintstone
Full instructions are included, but you can also see the kit in action here.
Made in the forest region of Swedish Lapland, utilising the knowledge of the forest people who have lived and worked there for centuries. -
