Hobbies and interests often trigger a good business idea, and then a burgeoning business! For Claire Twigge Molecey it was a love of beauty products, and in particular aromatherapy which Claire used as respite from a hectic life working as a fashion and homewares buyer.
Initially experimenting with different essential oils to create relaxation remedies, face and body oils, Claire distributed her prototypes to those she ultimately trusted to give honest feedback - her family and friends. The response was so positive, it spurred Claire on to enroll in a local college to further her knowledge of aromatherapy, skincare, anatomy and physiology. Producing hand-blended oils and creams in small batches - the traditional way of making skincare products to retain freshness - it was important to Claire to use high quality, 100% natural and where possible organic ingredients, all supplied here in the UK. Even the packaging, bottles and jars she uses are made here.
In homage to those early days of family support, particularly her sibling, Nicky, Claire decided to call her brand Ermana, the Spanish for sister.
Now Ermana is a team of two. Claire and her husband, James, both passionately share the ethos of their brand: to show as much concern for what we put onto our bodies, as well as we put into our bodies. Free from sulphates, parabens, artificial colours and fragrances, Ermana is quickly finding devotees (in 2015 Vogue magazine named it as one of their best kept beauty secrets) and we're delighted to offer it on Hen & Hammock.
All Ermana products have undergone full cosmetic testing without using animals. Another great reason to buy!
